Baby Shower

One of my good friends here is having a baby girl next month. We are all far from home this year and I wanted to make her baby shower special. I really enjoyed the planning process and thinking of all the little details. Of course pinterest and my love for antiques were a huge help with this process.  We also had a good friend, who happened to be a photographer, take some pictures of the day.

The pom-poms are hand made and I found an easy tutorial here
I think pom-poms are a great way to add color to a room without having to spend to much money. The banner was made by my friends mom and will be in the nursery above the baby's crib.

Most of the decor came from my vintage wedding a few years back. I love mason jars and think they add a lovely touch to any gathering. The flowers came from our local farmers market.

For the drinks we added fresh ingredients to the water and also served yummy mimosas. I then added fabric to the mason jars to add more color to the room.

The type writer added to the vintage theme. There was a welcome note to the guest telling them to fill out baby wishes for little molly to read when she is older. We had a lot of fun getting creative with the wishes.

I found a template for the baby wishes here

One of the other ways I added color to the room was with scrap fabric and twine. All you need to do is cut 1-2 in. fabric and tie it in a knot at the top of the string. My friend is also going to use this in the baby's room.

As a newly wed I still do not have many dishes to put on display. Because of this I needed to get creative. I was looking around my house and came across this vintage tool box and realized that it would be the perfect display for our muffins and cupcakes.

For the food we had a brunch theme.  There were muffins, a parfait, pigs in a blanket, sandwiches, veggies and dip, cupcakes, and a cheese danish. I found the cheese danish recipe here

For the baby shower activity we made onesies. We had a group of very creative women and I think they turned out great. This activity was the ideal craft for our baby shower and the best part is that my friend was able to bring them home and little molly will be able to wear them someday. I found a tutorial here.

Another aspect of the decor were baby quotes around the room. My favorite quote was, "May you touch dragonflies and stars, may you dance with fairies and talk to the moon.. May you grow up with love and gracious hearts and people who care. Welcome to the world little one, its been waiting for you!"

I wanted to make a gift for my friend's baby shower and saw that she pinned this. I just made some minor changes. I purchased a frame from hobby lobby as well as the knobs. The chicken wire can be purchased at lowes. We then drilled holes in the bottom of the frame to add the knobs and used a staple gun to secure the chicken wire on the back. The hair clips and headband were purchased on etsy.

We had an amazing time celebrating my friend and her sweet baby to be. I cannot wait to welcome little molly into the world!
